Our university , an integrated comprehensive university, originally developed education professionals at the Chiayi Normal College and agriculture professionals at the Chiayi Technology Institute. The so-called spirit “It takes a decade to grow a tree, but a hundred years to nurture a human being ” is fully demonstrated in this university.
This university's Teacher Education Center ( hereinafter referred to as the Center) has the following features :
I. The Normal College is at the heart of the Center
NCYU is a general comprehensive university with a variety of schools and colleges, such as： Science and Engineering、 Agriculture and Life Sciences、 Arts and Humanities、 Business ,etc. But in teacher education, the school has the advantage of the Normal College .
The system was changed after the 1987 reform . All the university's teachers and researchers are highly qualified and excel in their professional capacity.
Concerning teacher training , the Normal College is responsible for the overall vision of teacher education , and leads various departments. The Center is very diligent in practice. The Normal College provides strong support and backing to the Center and its activities.
II. Teacher training has a long history and students exercise diligence
The National Chiayi Technology Institute was founded in 1919 and its mission was to focus and develop agricultural expertise. The National Chiayi Normal College was founded in 1957 and the mission was to train competent primary school and kindergarten teachers. The teachers and equipment of the Center are both abundant. There are many distinguished alumni.
The Technology Institute and the Normal College were integrated in February 2000 to create a new comprehensive university：The NCUY. The NCYU's motto is to “remain honest and simple , to practice , to innovate and to serve". The NCYU encourages students to study diligently and energetically, and seeks to carry the school's traditions forward. Scholars are also encouraged to excel NCYU's tarot is to " bring honor to Chiayi, increase its national standing and become international ".
III. Multiple departments and ample resources help prepare professional teachers in various fields
Our university has six colleges, 32 departments and 36 research institutes ； 70.27% of teachers have a PhD degree； 80.25% of teachers are assistant professors or above. In addition, 60 teachers from the Normal College and other Colleges support the Center and the training of both primary and secondary school teachers.
Our university currently has four campuses as well as an agricultural experimental farm, an experimental primary school, including kindergarten. and many related resources . Yang, our former president and Li Ming-Ren, our current president have invested more than NT$ 2 billion intoeducation resources, thus providing the teacher training school a great competitive advantage.
