NCYU President Chyung Ay presented disease prevention kits to the students. NCYU Overseas Students Back to Residence with Good Health after Quarantine
The first group of NCYU students under a mandatory quarantine at the Qingyunzhai Dormitory on the Linsen campus have completed 14-day quarantine in turn starting from Feb. 21st. On Feb. 25th at 9:30 a.m., there were 5 students ready to leave the dormitory, and return to their residence for self-health management. When they stepped out of the dormitory, NCYU President Chyung Ay showed up to give his warmest regards and presented each a disease prevention kit. As confirmed cases of the coronavirus Covid-19 continue to rise worldwide, and school is about to start, the Qingyunzhai Dormitory will continue to serve as the quarantine facility as part of the measures against the ongoing Covid-19.

In conjunction with the regulations stipulated by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, all the people arriving in Taiwan via mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau are required to conduct self-health management at home for 14 days. From Feb. 7th to 10th, NCYU has assisted 17 students (1 foreigner; 9 Hongkonger; 7 Macauness) to stay at the Qingyunzhai Dormitory for a mandatory quarantine. During the quarantine, the staff of the NCYU Office of International Affairs have precisely followed up the overseas students’ arrival times to help them return school, healthy and sound. The adminstrative staff across different units have also been sparing no effort, day and night, to provide various support and services to the students.

During the 14-day quarantine of the 17 students who stayed at the Qingyunzhai Dormitory, NCYU had been providing, for example, three free meals a day, sleeping bags, toiletries, clothes dryers, personal infection prevention products including masks, thermometers, alcohol (75%) and bleach. The 24-Hour security guard services were also provided. Meanwhile, a social network group was created to provide moral support to the students, meet their diverse needs, and offer immediate mental and physical health support. On Feb. 25th, the last group of students from Hong Kong and Macau who have just completed quarantine were released. Before leaving the dormitory, currently as a quarantine facility, their body temperature was checked by a professional nurse to ensure their health status. A bus was arranged to transport each of them back to their residence. President Chyung Ay reminded the students to fully conduct self-health management, and the Office of Student Affairs will follow up on their health status, offer health management guidance, moral support as well as psychological counselling services, etc. The Office of Academic Affairs will also offer learning support, so that each of the students will feel the warmth and care from the university.

According to Li, a student from Hong Kong, he felt lucky to be safely back to NCYU, and thanked the university for their wonderful care. Despite limited living space for the short period of time, he considered it the best option to protect not only himself but others. It’s fundamental to maintain personal health and safety, and he will carry out conduct self-health management and maintain contact with university staff after leaving the dormitory.

NCYU President Chyung Ay indicated that he was more than happy to see all the 17 students who had undergone a 14-day quarantine able to return to their residence in a healthy status. Student health and campus safety are top priorities for the university. As Covid-19 continues to spread around the globe, he urged different units of the university to support each other. He expressed gratitude to all the staff for preparing the Qingyunzhai Dormitory as a quarantine site and reinforcing infection control measures within the shortest period of time possible. They will go through this difficult battle together, and do their best to protect the spread of the virus on the campus.
