Dr. Chen joined National Chiayi University after completed her PhD in International Political Economy from University of York in 2011. Her research and teaching interests include globalization and cross-cultural studies; international relations; international and interpersonal communication; Asia studies; and international education, with a particular focus on regional cooperation and integration. She is also the Director of International Cooperation, coordinating academic exchange programs with international institutions.
Her research interests lie in the dynamic interactions between transnational actors and domestic change, with a regional focus on East Asia. The ongoing research focuses on the impact of free movement of services and labors cross the Taiwan Strait; cross-cultural communication strategies; and critical investigations of ‘new modes of international education’ through an examination of Taiwan’s higher education and research policy.
