The Graduate Institute of Public Policy was originally known as the Graduate Institute of Defense and National Security. It was renamed with permission as Graduate Institute of Public Policy in August 2010. It is aimed to cultivate talents who have theoretical and practical specialty in administrative management, policy planning and analysis. The curriculum is designed to meet the demands of the new era with the combination of theory and practice in order to handle new issues of public administration in globalization, regional development and local governance. The curriculum of the Institute focuses on four aspects in its development: administrative management, policy planning, Constitution & law and regional development & globalization. Further emphasis is placed on both the introduction of academic theories and practical analysis in aspects such as public law, political sciences, policy planning and administrative management. Based on these pillars, it is aimed to begin the task of research and teaching for achieving the goal of Taiwan’s sustainable development. The Institute is located on the pivotal part of Chianan Plain, and the University is the key comprehensive university in this region. Future development and status of the Graduate Institute of Public Policy of National Chiayi University could be established along with the support of faculty members from six colleges.
