On the trend about development of biomedicine and bioscience in the world, human beings still face the threads of chronic disease, infective disease, immunity-associated disease, aging, and death in 21st century. Biotechnology is a key development plan of our country, especially a growing research on the Chinese herbal medicine and microbial industry. Other than establish the graduate institutes to educate excellence students to own the ability of research and invention, combine the academic research and industrial circle, and even international exchange and cooperation, can promote our competitiveness in these fields. Research center for herbal medicine and microbial utilization (RCHMMU) was established in 2003 accordingly. For the purpose of supporting these enterprises, the RCHMMU strives to reach main goals listed as follows:
