The University was officially established and hence the College.

The College was formed in accordance with "The Articles of Organizations of National Chiayi University" approved by the Ministry of Education. The following departments were established at the first stage: postgraduate courses in Science Education, Computer and Information Engineering and Mathematics Education; undergraduate courses in Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biomechatronic Engineering, and Civil and Water Resources Engineering.
