History and geography have long since become independent disciplines. At present, they are also academic fields in China, with their own majors and independent research, with little negotiation or interaction. But according to the facts, these two disciplines are closely related to each other.
History is the study of human past activities, and geographical space is the stage of human history. The importance of geographical factors in historical evolution has always been widely recognized by historians. Geography studies the relationship between human activities on the earth's surface and its environment. From the perspective of human-land interaction, the spatial scope of its research includes: the space that humans have set foot in in the past, which is related to the historical process; the space that humans have set foot in now, It is also related to the accumulation and influence of history; the space that humans will enter, this involves the accumulation of history and the foresight of historical experience. Therefore, the importance of historical factors in the geographical environment has always been widely recognized by geographers. It shows that the research fields of history and geography are deeply overlapping, and the research work is also deeply interactive.
Judging from the current domestic history and geography research results, geographical issues are often ignored in historical research, and their processing lacks the support of geographical professional knowledge and research methods. In geographical research, historical issues have not yet received full attention, and their handling methods lack the support of historical professional knowledge and research methods. In view of this, the master's degree class in this department will promote the professional complementarity of history and geography research in the interactive relationship between history and geography teaching and research, and cultivate research talents with complementary history and geography majors. It is expected to gather talents so that they can draw on their personal interests. 3. Cultivate research and application talents

In terms of research talent. Based on the resources of the Department of History and Geography, the Department’s undergraduate and master’s programs work to cultivate outstanding research talents in two directions: one is to cultivate history and geography research talents in the professional division of labor, and the other is to combine history and geography. Combining the development of historical and geographical integrated research talents.
In terms of applied talents. Students in the undergraduate department cooperate with the resources of the school and take tutoring courses in supplementary departments for inter-disciplinary integration to cultivate teachers of history, geography and social humanities courses in primary and secondary schools, as well as talents needed by the cultural and mass communication fields. As for the master's classes in this department and the master's special classes and master's credit classes that will be opened in the future, they have the potential to have multiple functions:
(1) In the current nine-year implementation of consistent social field teaching in China, existing primary and secondary school teachers all have good professional training, but their ability to teach the integration and application of history, geography, and civics subjects is generally obviously insufficient. This department uses existing historical and geographical resources and cooperates with the civics course to provide a learning channel to implement the spirit of this new course.
