Conference Theme
General English Education and Language Teaching (GEELT): Innovative Pedagogy, Intercultural Communication, and Global Connections
1. Conference Rationale
In response to the growing trends of globalization and the internationalization of higher education, English has become an essential medium for intercultural communication, knowledge dissemination, and international exchange. General English courses are widely offered as a fundamental component of university education. Their goals have expanded beyond developing students' language proficiency to include cultivating intercultural understanding, critical thinking skills, global perspectives, and international mobility.
While established academic communities and professional platforms exist in fields such as Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and applied linguistics, academic conferences and research communities specifically dedicated to General English Education remain relatively limited. To address this gap, GEELT 2027 aims to establish an academic platform for interdisciplinary and international exchange, fostering dialogue between research in General English Education and practices in language teaching.
By bringing together research findings, pedagogical innovations, and teaching experiences from around the world, the conference seeks to explore future directions in General English Education and language teaching. It also aims to facilitate the establishment of the Taiwan General English Education Research Network (TGEERN), thereby promoting the development and international connections of Taiwan’s General English Education research community and strengthening collaboration and scholarly exchange among researchers and educators both in Taiwan and abroad.
2. Conference Objectives
The conference aims to:
- Establish an academic platform centered on General English Education.
- Promote dialogue and exchange between academic research and teaching practice.
- Strengthen academic collaboration in General English Education and language teaching among scholars and educators in Taiwan and abroad.
- Promote the development of the Taiwan General English Education Research Network (TGEERN).
- Develop sustainable mechanisms for international academic exchange and collaboration.
3. Call for Papers: Conference Topics
GEELT 2027 welcomes research papers, reports on teaching practices, and experience-based presentations related to General English Education in higher education and language teaching.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Curriculum Design and Development
- Innovative Teaching and Learning
- Technology-Enhanced Language Learning
- Intercultural Communication and Global Competence
- Research in English Language Education
- Interdisciplinary Teaching and Sustainable Development
- Teacher Professional Development and Educational Policy
- Other Topics Related to Language Teaching

5. Submission Guidelines
Presentation Formats
GEELT 2027 welcomes submissions for the following presentation formats:
- Oral Paper Presentation
- Poster Presentation
Abstract Submission
Authors are invited to submit one abstract in English.
All submissions will undergo a blind review process.
Abstract Requirements
- Length: Maximum of 300 words
- The abstract should include:
- Background and purpose of the study
- Research methodology or implementation approach
- Research findings or expected outcomes
- 3–5 keywords

Abstract Submission Deadline: November 8, 2026
Early-Bird Registration: Until November 30, 2026
Regular Registration: December 1, 2026 – February 19, 2027
Conference Date: March 19, 2027
